Dates and Prices

January 10th, 2006 :: New products :: 7 Responses

While exams take up large chunks of my time, there is just room to report on the recently announced release dates and prices for Half-Life 2: Aftermath, S.C.S. Dangerous Waters, and another Strategy First-published game Space Empires IV Deluxe.

SCS Dangerous Waters’ price is the same as the boxed edition, while Space Empires IV, originally released in 2000, is $10 cheaper than downloading it from the Digital River store. No odd decisions there then. Also, Aftermath has jumped from $12.95 to $19.95. Let’s hope the extended development time justifies the higher price.

Teamkilled is now reporting that Aftermath’s inflated Steam price is due to HL2: Deathmatch and HL: Source Deathmatch being bundled with it.

    Happy: FINALLY a date! I can mark my new calandar with something!
    Sad: 20 bucks isn’t horrible, but I had gotten my hopes up with just $13.
    And yes, it better be worth the wait and cash. (Wasn’t it promised for last summer, along with Lost Coast?)

    Is Aftermath going to be episodic? I’ve heard it referenced as Episode 1.

  3. Tom Edwards Says:

    I doubt it. The people saying that are probably confused.

    And, er, by confused I mean, er…

    Oh, I think I understand what you mean (i hope):
    Aftermath it self isn’t episodic – it’s more like “HalfLife2 episode 1 – Aftermath”.

    No, its just as if it was the second part to HL2. So HL2 itself could be considered “episodic” because it has two episodes. But its not the same way SiN is episodic(like a tv series that never ends until it is canceled). If they make a Half-life 2.2 (after Aftermath), I would be really supprised. They should be working on 3 by then in my opinion.
