Counter-Strike contributors Turtle Rock are developing a ‘next-generation’ Source project for Steam, in which they are building a game ‘universe’.

You may remember xStream, Steam’s first true competitor and the service to which 3D Realms has signed Prey. A post on the official forums has announced its imminent relaunch, and invited suggestions for a new name.

Leaked resource files leave no doubt that a P2P distribution system is being added to Steam, and very little that it is related to the “distribution system…for free content” mentioned last September.

Steam Media Player available; Steam driver added and removed

While Monday’s Steam update may have been aimed at getting the final beta phase of Friends 3.0 out into the open, it also saw the quiet release of Steam Media Player. Also, a new system driver, SteamDrv.sys, has been found in the Steam folder.
